A to Z bookish survey

Since I have nothing better to do at the moment (actually I’ve searched everywhere for this specific certificate I need for a job application but I can’t find it so now I’m taking a break) I decided to have some fun with a A to Z survey about books.

Props for this survey goes to The Perpetual Page-Turner who designed it.

Author you’ve read the most books from:
J.K. Rowling. I read a lot of different authors and, to be honest, I don’t think I’ve read more books from a single author than her. Yet!

Best sequel ever:
City of Ashes by Cassandra Clare. This was a tough one though because I often think of book series as a whole.

Currently reading:
Twilight by Stephenie Meyer. Yes, I’m extremely behind on this one. I weren’t sure if I wanted to read these at first but after watching all the movies I decided to give them a chance.

Drink of choice while reading:
I don’t really drink anything while reading a book. Too afraid I’ll accidentally spill something and ruin the book!

E-reader or physical book?
Physical book. No question about it.

Fictional character you probably would have actually dated in high school:
Roth from The Dark Elements-trilogy by Jennifer L. Armentrout. He’s such a bad boy but he still cares, even if he shows it in his own way.

Glad you gave this book a chance:
Love Life by Ray Kluun. It’s not really the genre I go for but I was recommended it and I’m so happy I read it. It’s an amazingly well-written and heartfelt story about when he lost his wife to cancer.

Hidden gem book:
The Incredible Journey by Sheila Burnford. I don’t know if it can be classified as a hidden gem exactly… for anyone reading in Swedish I would like to mention Tre trappor upp med hiss by Maria Gripe.

Important moment in your reading life:
When I was still young and dad would read the same books to me every night, over and over again. Thanks, dad!

Just finished:
Stone Cold Touch by Jennifer L. Armentrout. You’re welcome to read my review of it here.

Kinds of books you won’t read:
I’d like to say autobiographies, crime and chic-lit. But there’s always some exemptions.

Longest book you’ve read:
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix by J.K. Rowling. I read it in Swedish and it was 1001 pages long.

Major book hangover because of:
White Hot Kiss by Jennifer L. Armentrout.

Number of bookcases you own:
5. Four big ones and one smaller containing all my paperbacks.

One book you have read multiple times:
A Villain’s Night Out by Margaret Mahy. I highly recommend this book to anyone who has kids.

Preferred place to read:
Anywhere? I don’t really care as long as I’m not being disturbed. In my bed, at the dinner table, walking somewhere (warning: reading while walking can be dangerous) etc.

Quote that inspires you/gives you all the feels from a book you’ve read:
“I lost myself the moment I found you.” from White Hot Kiss by Jennifer L. Armentrout.

Reading regret:
Not yet having read The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien. The thing is I’ve owned the books for several years but I still haven’t read them. I feel kinda bad about it.

Series you started and need to finish (all books are out in series):
Jennifer Scales by MaryJanice Davidson (I think all books are out in this one) and The Noble Dead Saga by Barb & J.C. Hendee. Those are the series I can think of right now that I haven’t finished.

Three of your all-time favorite books:
I don’t do favorites so I’m just going to pass on this one. Sorry.

Unapologetic fangirl for:
Harry Potter. I grew up reading those books and I totally wanted to go to Hogwarts. Maybe they’re looking for new teachers?

Very excited for this release more than all the others:
None at the moment. Currently reading series which I’m sort of behind in so the next books are already out.

Worst bookish habit:
I tend to read way too many books at the same time. Like, right now my pile consists of only three books but it’s been around seven and more. I should really learn to read one book at a time.

X marks the spot; start at the top left of your shelf and pick the 27th book:
Låt den rätte komma in (Let the Right One In) by John Ajvide Lindqvist.

Your latest book purchase:
Seraph of the End volume 1 by Takaya Kagami. It’s a manga novel. The original title is Owari no Seraph.

Zzz-snatcher book (last book that kept you up way late):
City of Glass by Cassandra Clare. I remember I had work the day after but I just needed to finish the book and I ended up only getting like 2 hours worth of sleep.

I happen to be somewhat of a language geek. I just really like learning languages. And I’m fairly good at it, too. My goal is to be able to speak at least 9 languages. Call me crazy if you like.

The languages I speak (so far) are Swedish, English, German, Japanese, French and Spanish – in that very order – and I’ve now decided to add Italian to this list.

If I had to pick a favorite I would say Japanese. It’s so melodic and sweet. But it takes time learning how to write and read. So many characters!

Working out

About one year ago I decided to get back in shape. So I went for a walk. Just a short 20 minute walk around the neighborhood. Nothing special.

Today I spend approximately 2 hours on one walk.

I also joined a gym this year. Where I can workout after work. Spinning is my favorite together with two of the machines, one to tone the muscles in and around your stomach and the other to tone the muscles in and around your shoulders, biceps and triceps.

Finally reached my goal weight. I am celebrating this with a 21 day long challenge which I began this Monday. Simply put it’s a diet plan. First and second day was a breeze. Third and fourth day I had the munchies. Salami and raisins does not make a good combination, trust me.

21 day challenge:

  • No candy
  • No cake
  • No chips
  • No white bread
  • No fast food
  • No chocolate
  • No ice cream

For anyone out there who’s struggling with something: You can do it. Believe in yourself and don’t give up.

Fifty Shades of Grey

Watched the movie last night before going to bed. I haven’t read the books and I honestly weren’t planning to, either. The reason I ended up watching the movie was Ellie Goulding’s song Love Me Like You Do. I heard it and absolutely loved it. When I looked it up and saw it was on the soundtrack for Fifty Shades of Grey I got curious. Even more so after I watched the music video. So I asked a friend who I knew had seen the movie if it was worth watching and she said yes.

Still, this is so not my type of genre. But I have to admit I enjoyed it. The story was different and actually pretty fascinating. Jamie Dornan is a great actor and he does an amazing job in his role of Mr. Grey. I also think Mr. Grey could totally rock being a vampire. Just a random thought. It weren’t as pornographic as I first thought it would be. Which was a pleasant surprise.

Not sure I will ever read the books, though.

Happy New Year!

It’s the 1st of January 2016. New Year’s Day. I’m feeling pretty hopeful about this year.

Memories from 2015:

  • Bought my first Digital SLR camera
  • Got a job
  • Lost about 11kg (24lbs)
  • Pierced my ears
  • Participated in VårRuset*
  • Queen + Adam Lambert live in Denmark
  • Miku moved in

I don’t do New Year’s resolutions but I’m going to keep trying my best this year!

*VårRuset is a 5km race for girls.

New jewelry

Bild 015

Sorry about the crappy quality. The light sucked and I honestly didn’t feel like doing anything about it.

I went to a jewelry outlet today with my mom and got me some new lovely bijoux. The ones you see above are all in steel/sterling silver. Actually, the handcuffs originally hung on the chain but the jewelry designer made them into earrings for me instead. So they’re one of a kind.

Stone Cold Touch by Jennifer L. Armentrout

I love this book. Wait, no… I love this book trilogy.

If you like demons, romance and excitement I totally recommend you to read these books. Roth always brings a grin to my face and, at several times, even made me laugh out loud. He’s got a wicked tongue (and quite a pervy mind.)

The writer-part of me is seriously jealous of Jennifer L. Armentrout and her way of expressing her characters’ thoughts. Just small details, like Layla saying “Holy granola bar.” instead of actually swearing. She really captures all the different characters, not only in their personalties, but also in their speech.

This book ended with such a cliffhanger and I am so freaking happy I already ordered the third (and last) book because I can’t wait to find out what happens next. I almost felt like crying over that cliffhanger. Almost.

I lost myself the moment I found you. – my favorite quote from the first book, White Hot Kiss.
